Surviving: Recession Stories
September marks the first anniversary of the global economic crisis. In the year since the ESRI first used the word "recession", people's lives have changed dramatically. The programme depicts the personal stories of how lives have changed - for better and for worse. Surviving: Recession Stories is a portrait of a radically changed Ireland.

Brian O'Donovan
Brian O' Donovan is one of the most talented journalists on Irish television.
In keeping with TV3's policy of bringing fresh new talent to the Irish audience from both within and outside of TV3, Brian has proven himself as a gifted reporter with an ability to get to the heart of the story and to communicate it effectively.
Having worked with TV3 News for the past few years, he has reported extensively on many of the top stories, including the 2007 General Election, the Rachel O'Reilly murder trial, the fishing tragedy in Dunmore East and the Rugby World Cup. Brian began his career at Red FM in his native Cork.
Brian has previously presented Lawless Ireland, a TV3 documentary which took a shocking look at the growing problems of late-night drunken street violence, armed robberies, kidnappings, racist attacks and football hooliganism.
Brian also presented Undercover Ireland: The Drugs Trade for TV3, which exposed the shocking truth behind Ireland's growing drug problem.
Brian was a finalist in the Business Broadcast category for his TV3 documentary, ‘Surviving the Recession,' which brought business reporting to the masses at the UCD Smurfit School Business Journalist Awards 2009.
